[She smiles, a little too earnest, when Chapel answers. Chapel is fun - Chapel is understanding. If there's anyone to whom Mariner should level with tonight, it's the nurse. Almost as an afterthought, she affects a dismissive handwave, and steps close to Chapel, barely looking around the house , much less concerning herself with Lorca's room.]
Pff, you mean the Up? It's nice enough, I guess, though I'm not sure how anyone can get any sleep without a sidewalk loiterer to yell at through the window.
[She reaches up, scratches a cheek, and offers up an attempt to tack on a polite offering.]
Yeah? I'm pretty sure Gabriel would never consider a place he lives as cute but I think it's cute so thanks. You want something to drink, something to eat? I can play a decent hostess when I need to.
( Chapel has never played hostess in this apartment, actually, but now's as good a time as any to start. )

[Mariner's going uncharacteristically quiet for a moment (and with how quick she's in the habit of going, a moment is an event). The nurse is just too good.]
Uh, yeah. How about a drink with a little kick? There's some things I wanted to show you. Might go nicely together.
[It doesn't get any judgment from Beckett, who is a fan of margaritas while on duty. A moment's consideration, and she decides to lean into an impulse, by stepping close and trying to let fingers brush the other woman's hand.]

[Okay. Okay, one boundary tested and it's good. It's not that she expects to create a disaster here, but she cares more about doing things right than she lets on, and especially with someone that she looks up to.]

[Carefully, she curls fingers around the nurse's hand, and moves to bump her shoulder. And, clearly enjoying throwing that stupid line out:]
I'm fun, and bitter, so if you wanted to you could skip the booze and just try me.
( Chapel laughs softly. It's a stupid line, sure, but on someone cute it definitely works and Mariner is definitely cute. She leans in a little and whispers up against the other woman's ear. )
